The University of Texas System's Chancellor, William McRaven, recently announced plans to develop a “collaborative research center” and “intellectual hub” on approximately 300 acres, that is within 6 miles of the site .

The campus will be located adjacent to US 90A south of the 610 Loop and north of the Sam Houston Tollway. The property will be served by the future Metro rail service planned to stop on the Cravens Road property at the Sam Houston Tollway before ultimately going further south to SugarLand. The tie in to the proposed Beltway Enterprise Park will bring the potential for complementary development to the site.
